Memory lane

For many Brewers fans, Easter Sunday will always conjure memories of April 19, 1987, the day that Rob Deer and Dale Sveum hit dramatic homers in the bottom of the ninth inning against Texas to lift the Brewers a 6-4 victory, their 12th straight victory to open the season.
Although attendance was 29,357 that day at County Stadium, thousands more Brewers fans claim to have attended that game. Brewers shortstop Craig Counsell, who was 16 at the time, was there and he can prove it.
"Check the newspaper," said Counsell, whose father, John, worked in the Brewers' front office at the time.
"I was sitting in about the sixth row behind the dugout and my picture was on the paper the next day for one of the curtain calls. That whole day was unbelievable. It was a fun game to be at."
